Hey there John
thanks for returning the mail, I'm embarrassed to say it but I have yet to vote. stoners don't get to the voting booths as often as they would like unfortunately. " awwww damn I thought it was super thursday!" Do you recommend signing the letters????? what kind of repercussions might be headed my way if I do? Hippie

Hippie,
Stoners not voting and keeping quiet is what has brought us to this sad state of affairs we now live in. We must make a stand before the government locks us all up. Many drugs penalties have been made into felonies in the past decade, which means, upon conviction you lose you right to vote. That is how they keep us out of the loop. As for signing letters I actually wouldn't expect any repercussions , but a letter with a signature holds greater esteem to politicians, because when they support your issue they ask for money. The truth being you can expect anything from people in power, the wrong word and your letter goes into a FBI or DEA file, as for hunting you down it is possible but not likely. the best response is to make sure that other people in your area write also, lots of letters, get more attention, and do not forget your local newspapers, while most will not print anonymous letters if they receive several it could lead to a story so mention the web page too. Personally I have been doing the page and letter thing for over ten years now with no repercussions at all, just a polite letter (auto respond) from the White House, because the president does not know about computers or e-mail (Scary huh) Myself , I hope to hit the talk show circuit and bring this whole issue to a national focus, but in the mean time we are just ants working toward a common cause.

John,
I will write you in. And, I'll be sure that everyone that I know will read your website at least. I am a proponent to the reform of marijuana laws and one pissed off person I know many people who are either proponents of a right to the self or opponents of the current campaigning protocols of persuasion through power. Most of them will gladly support you.

I think that one of the problems with big government today is that 60% of U.S. citizens do not vote in a presidential election. That ultimately results in a president who has the ability to guess what the opinions are of 40% of the U.S. citizens that didn't show up to express their voting rights and candidacy positions...the same 40% of the citizens who are poor citizens, who are poor minority citizens, who are poor minority female citizens. That portion of U.S. citizens are not writing their senators and representatives either (and certainly, the representatives and senators are not soliciting their opinions. As usual, only companies and agencies that can afford lobbyists are heard by their representatives. And at least some of those lobbyists are only politicians versus scientists and consumers.) Bill Clinton may have won part of that 40% portion's vote in 1996. I think you can win that entire portion's vote in 2004. Regardless and as you have already stated, you would be the most likely of either candidate to tell the truth and speak for the beliefs of the constituents. That is one of your strongest points
The alias is definitely your weakest.
Still, I shall follow you along, wait like the rest of us to find out just who John Galt jr is...

pgs,
Thanks in advance for your vote and support. Something I learned long ago is that word of mouth is the best advertising and it will have to do because this campaign has no budget... However you may not need to write me in the way things are going I could actually end up on the ballot in some states. So if you would like to contribute you could find out what the requirements in your state are and let me know. (most states have a petition policy x number of signatures over a certain time period)

I am afraid that the portion of citizens who are writing to their representatives are not having their opinions heard either... The only way to get your say in Washington is to enclose a large check and that is what pisses me off the most. We have serious representation problems in this current system mainly because, only companies and agencies that can afford lobbyists are heard and too many good causes have no financial lobby (probably the main reason Marijuana was made illegal and still is illegal is that corporate America would not directly benefit from the legalization )

You say that the alias is definitely my weakest point. I say perhaps, as there is nothing like a little intrigue to catch the eye of the media and the public. Sooner or later a lot of people will be trying to solve that little mystery. Truth is it's not much of a secret any more, many people know exactly who John Galt jr is... The rest of America may have to wait until my appearance on Oprah... I am fairly certain that the letter people (FBI CIA DEA ) already know, since I decided to become involved with Dr. Heicklen's protests and have done several interviews with various reporters, and have appeared on local TV news (as John Galt Jr) five times. I also had a couple of chances for friendly chat with an officers of the law at a protests, and in other environments. While I have been walking some very narrow lines, I have given them no reason to be arrested as the first amendment stands behind most of my actions...

John,
I see interspersed in your speeches and rants, mentions of your environmentalism. Yet among your solutions I see nothing, about environmental policies. Are you just another political smoke blower? Alex

I think that the general slow down of capitalist waste and government in general will greatly help the environment. I think that old railroad beds should be converted for alternate travel (bicycles, hikers, golf carts, and other more energy efficient methods of travel) I think that public all lighting (Street lights, and other night lighting) should be converted to solar. I think we should embrace solar wind and geothermic power to it's fullest extent. I think that the rooftops of the cities should be converted to greenhouses, so the cities can become more self sufficient. I think marginal areas should be converted for wildlife usage. I believe we have the science to build fuel efficient cars and homes, but don't because it would upset some Texas billionaires. I promise I will do more for the environment than the past four presidents and I intend to keep all my promises...
