For most of my life I have had a soft spot for our canine brethren, I often take in dogs, that are in need of a good human friend. Some stay as long as 18 years others only days. I did the shelter thing a couple of times and taken in dogs that have already been through the shelter system. I find that shelter dogs often have, and are exposed to health, mental and physical problems usually due to the neglect of their owners. When a dog comes "broken" it can take years to bring that dog back to a good place.
I haven't stopped taking in dogs, but I have began breeding them.
I decided to breed my old daschund. In order to start I had to find a suitable female. Pricing Dachshunds I discovered that they were out of my price range.
I researched the origin of dachshund breed and found it is a fairly new breed as dogs go and was developed by mixing several small breeds to make a hunting dog that would go down holes to fetch or chase rodents. I decided to repeat the experiment and start my own breed with the goal of having my own dog pack of user friendly small lap dog. So I rescued a pretty poodle dog
and the descendants of Pee Wee were created, no papers, no clubs, just the friendliest lap dogs on planet Earth...
The powers that be intervened and said Pets are allowed but 8 dogs are too many,
So some of the puppies had to be rehomed, I gave away two of them over a two year period rehomed three others for a rehoming fee.That isn't to say I have started a business, this is not a capitalist endeavor. I have found that it costs $300 - $500 to raise each dog for the first year.
The goals of this endeavor are simple and few.
1. To make a new breed and spend my time raising and training dogs and in doing so falling in love over and over.
2. to recover as much money as possible as I am on a fixed income.
3. To Raise and train dogs to use for companion dogs for senior citizens. That isn't that I give away the dogs but they are scaled my what they can afford, usually less than $200.my other dogs
