Pissing in the Bushes

I was driving home from work one night about 2:30 am, when I saw someone being busted. The officer was shining a flashlight in the eyes of a young women on a lawn by a public building. As three other people stood and watched a second police cruiser came screaming up for this dangerous suspect. I saw her later and she told me, that she over celebrated her 21st birthday and got busted for peeing behind the bushes. She had been given a ticket for public urination (even though no-one actually witnessed the incident she got caught leaving the bushes) which the officer stated on the ticket was lewd and menacing behavior to the public.

Now I can understand why we as civilized society don't want people running around defecating all over the place. But really now what we are talking about is nature here... Sometimes you just have to go. In the early morning hours there are but a few options
1. Piss in the middle of the street or sidewalk
2. Duck behind some bushes or a building
3. Piss your pants.

Any reasonable person would choose option #2 even if they have been drinking a bit, although I have seen all three options selected by differing individuals.

Now because this young women had a emergency call from mother nature, she had to go through the embarrassment of being tormented by two officers in front of spectators. She also has to go to court and in front of a judge and whom ever else is in the court room, answer the charges (which will be read) yes I did piss in the bushes and pay the $100 fine or ask for a trial to prove she pissed in the bushes.

So what is my point here?
Should a person be punished for choosing the best option? How does the public benefit from this prosecution? Will this prosecution deter others or this young women from doing this again? Point is sometimes when you have to go, you have to go and the civil laws will not stop mother nature!
