Speech 10/11/03 Harvest Festival 2003
Echo Lake Afton NY

Hello,
My name is John and Robby has asked me to come out here and stir up the crowd. I am here because I am an activist, which means I like to stand in front of a crowd and tell them what I think. Today I have a special message for the 18 - 25 year olds, so lets get all the younger folks in here to hear what I have to say. Some one asked me years ago how long I planned on being an activist I said ten years, should be long enough to change the world. Then two years ago the FBI killed my friend Tom Croslin in the raid on Rainbow Farms. Now I say I will be an activist as long as Tom remains dead...

I'm going to start out by telling you a little about the RAVE act. This is a law that was sneaked into passing after being voted down several times, by attaching it to a child protection bill. The RAVE act has nothing to do with children, it has to do with public gatherings, like this one. The bill is written so broadly that it could apply to everything from bingo halls to football games. What it says is that people like Robby and Myself are responsible for the behavior of our guests, who as supporters of freedom, we want no control over. They say if you take drugs at our shows then we will be fined and jailed. This law legalizes everything they did wrong at Rainbow Farms. This law will be selectively enforced and needs to be repealed.

Next Law we need to address is the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act was passed just days after the 9/11 attack. This document is thousands of pages long, covering so much territory, it has to have been in somebody's drawer waiting for an excuse to use it. The Act expands police powers in every way. Allows citizens to be jailed indefinitely, with out charges allows jurisdictional searches (that means door to door). Outlaws political dissent and discussion and the part that really bothers me is that it classifies activists as domestic terrorists, when the CIA and FBI have been given permission to shoot and kill suspected terrorists. This law needs to be repealed.

Another thing we need to address is the War on Terrorism, which may soon become world war three. This is extremely important to the 18 -25 year olds. President Bush has activated the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines and the national Guard to fight this war. There are no more troops to send anywhere and few left behind to protect us. You can bet that the first thing Bush will do if re-elected will be to bring back the draft. Which brings me to my last point. I am running for President in 2004. Think about this, The first thing I will do is legalize Marijuana, the first thing George Bush will do is Send you to some foreign country to get killed.
Thank You, Good Night
