Why am I running?
Why am I running? Because, I believe that when the forefathers wrote in the first amendment that
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
That they meant that I as a citizen have the right to believe what I want to believe and that I as a citizen have the right to convey those thoughts feelings and beliefs to other citizens.
Furthermore that if I would choose to gather with like minded individuals that the government shall not infringe upon such gatherings and speech. And that I as a citizen have the right to tell the government when they have over-stepped their bounds.I believe that when they wrote in article IV, that
" The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized"
and I also believe that when they wrote in section
V nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
That they meant for the citizens to be secure in their properties not only their homes, but their bodies, their diaries, their computer files and other personal thoughts or fluids. They certainly didn't expect officers to pull over cars randomly or by prejudice, to question occupants, strip search vehicles, confiscate cash and valuables and extract bodily fluids.
They certainly would not have given these powers to massive corporations either.I believe it is time for direct democracy, that is to say the people voting on what should and shouldn't be laws. Those chosen to be our representatives are too often corrupted by the big money spread throughout our legislative bodies by corporations and lobby groups. It's high time they learned that we the people are their bosses.
Why am I running?
I think this question is the only question, that I have changed my response to over the past 20 years.
I had said that 2012 would be my last campaign, but since then nearly every person I have encountered online and in real life has said that 2016 could be my year. After the BS of Obama and Bush, America is looking for a real person who represents real people. So once again for the sixth time, I am throwing my hat into the ring. The difference is that in 2016, I will not travel the country on my dime, if the people are ready, they can pay my way by donating $2.00 In answering this question, I can answer all questions about what I do...
I do these things because, I am free, I have the choice to do with my life what I please.
Recently I have turned the big 50, this is a time in a man's life where he examines what his goals were, and what his achievements have been made. I have been thinking a lot about what I have been doing for the past fifteen years and what I might have done differently.
So now I have surprised myself in concluding that I wouldn't change it.
I feel it's my right and my duty and These are rights guaranteed to me by the U.S. Constitution and it's legally ratified amendments.
Among those rights also exists a right as an American citizen to run for public office. The primary reasons I am running are:
I don't like the way that the US Government and corporate America treats American citizens.
I don't like that more than 1% of our general population is behind bars for victim-less crimes.
I don't like that millions more on on parole, probation or other kinds of supervision.
I don't like that several states now spend more money on prisons than education.
I don't like that Americans have to piss in a cup in order to get or keep minimum wage jobs.
I don't like that our youth has been tricked into fighting and dying for wars that has no end game in place.
Which war do you ask? The war on terror? Afghanistan? or perhaps the forgotten War on Drugs? Answer all the above!I am running because big brother is alive and well.
I am running because over a thousand people have downloaded and re-posted my speech "the dangers of Marijuana"I am running because even after 20 years of the same tired rants, I still am welcome to speak at events.
(Why? Because Government has not fixed any problems in the past 40 years, it just makes more...)I am running because someone, actually took the time to tape my speech at Harvest fest in NY and posted it on u-tube.
But my main reason, that I am still running because Tom is still dead
A lot of people say that that is all bull, and that I can't possibly think I am going to win?
Well I can say that I don't expect to win, but I certainly have not ruled out the possibility...I am running because after a couple dozen have dropped out of the race no one will be talking about the issues that have been continuously ignored for twenty years
Then there are those who think that I should drop out now because those other candidates already getting media exposure.
My campaign starts when Americans decide to Write in my name instead of pushing a button for a candidate who doesn't represent them. It ends when 60 million pissed off Americans set down their pen after Writing Ronald Gascon in.The next question always seems to be... If I'm not planning on winning, then why am I spending so much of my time and money running this campaign?
First off it's my time and money, I will spend my time and money doing what I want to do...
Secondly, the same question should be asked of the other 100 people running for president. After all there is only one winner, right? Well the truth is most will be winners in one way or another, because they are out to enhance their political careers. and for myself I can't see how it could possibly hurt me to run for president and ... Well I do have an agenda...
My Agenda?
My primary agenda item is the return of power to the people. I want to make sure that those "groups" of people whom are under represented or not represented at all, in the current governmental schemes, are given full consideration in the adoption of policies and laws. What I am about is allowing people basic freedom to be themselves, to live their lives the way that they want to and not be labeled characterized or stereo-typed by bigots or by the government. I want to put common sense in common law. I want compromise to bring people together. I want be to be free and happy. I want our government to stop locking people up for being people.
My agenda is much simpler than most. I want to renew the time tradition fantasy that anyone can be president. I want to promote the pursuit of happiness. I want to make a difference so that I can live out my life in peace. I want to be assured that some over enthusiastic cop isn't going to drag me out of my car for a traffic violation and break my neck because I have a taillight out. I want to live knowing that the FBI, DEA, ATF are not going to kick my door in and blow me away because some anal retentive thought they saw something that looked like a pot plant growing on my property, while they were trespassing and shooting at nature or because the local government or police agency need forfeiture income.
I want to catch the attention of the media and political know it alls. I want to try to make genuine change in this country. I want to save my salary as president and retire. I want to save not only this country, but the earth from those posed to destroy it. Yes I am a dreamer, a dreamer with a plan, a vision for better things in the decades to come, Because I don't want my grandchildren to have to live in a world more screwed up than the one I had. If you want to help me just remember this is a WRITE IN campaign my name will not be on ballot in your state!Who Says I can't do it?
"The Two Parties"
There is the great Republican Agenda; which in a nut shell is to elect a president that is old enough to be considered wise, but faithful enough to the party, to not do anything unless told. That is to say, another puppet for conservative movement and the total legislation of morality of the melting pot till we all look act and feel the same...
That is except the radicals, weirdos, the tattooed, the pierced, the long hairs, drug users, committers of adultery, bikers, hikers, environmentalists, the non-christians and the rest of us freaks are locked up to prevent the spread of dangerous ideas and to keep the gun toting minorities in jobs as cops, agents and prison guards. There is the New Democratic Agenda, which is to act like Republicans while pointing fingers, different Mascot, and and ... I can't think of any others... SSDP
